History
Skittles was first introduced back in 1974 in American Markets. And as you probably have realized, this candy was loosely based on the M&M products that have a colorful candy shell and a chocolate center. However, Skittles was and still is a product that has a colorful candy shell and instead of a chocolate center has a center with a fruity, yet sometimes sour taste to it. In addition, where the M&M logo is found on M&M candies, Skittles prints a small “s” on each of its candies.
Ingredients
Skittles' ingredients are: Sugar, corn syrup, hydrogenated palm kernel oil, apple juice from concentrate, less than 2% - citric acid, dextrin, modified corn starch, natural and artificial flavors, coloring (includes yellow 6 lake, red 40 lake, yellow 5 lake, blue 2 lake, yellow 5, red 40, yellow 6, blue 1 lake, blue 1)

Each year enough Skittles sweets are made to leave a trail every inch to the Moon
